Timmy Chan's
The Chu family first opened Timmy Chan's on Fannin Street and then at Greenway Plaza in Houston in the 1970s. The Chus closed their full-service restaurants in the 1980s and sold the remaining two quick service restaurants, along with the recipes, to two Vietnamese Chinese immigrant families, The Tran and The Dang. To differentiate themselves while keeping Timmy Chan's name alive, they called themselves Timmy Chan's, and The Dang's called their restaurants The Original Timmy Chan's. Timmy Chan's is known for its American-Chinese cuisine, chicken wings, and Cajun-inspired dishes. To name a few, the most popular items are Garlic Wings, Cajun Shrimp Pasta, Lo Mien, Fried Rice, and Beef with Broccoli. One thing hasn't changed in the last 40 years: the recipe for Wings and Rice.
